چکیده

We introduce and study two-sided matching with incomplete information and interdependent valuations on one side of the market. An example of such a setting is a matching market between colleges and students in which colleges receive partially informative signals about students. Stability in such markets depends on the amount of information about matchings available to colleges. When colleges observe the entire matching, a stable matching mechanism does not generally exist. When colleges observe only their own matches, a stable mechanism exists if students have identical preferences over colleges, but may not exist if students have different preferences. © 2009 Elsevier Inc. Group stability in matching with interdependent values

We study two-sided many-to-one matching markets with interdependent valuations and imperfect information held by one side of the market. The other side has common and known preferences over potential mates. In this setting, pairwise stability does not imply group stability: mechanisms that are stable with respect to deviations by pairs of agents may be vulnerable to deviations by groups. We for...

Two-sided Matching with Incomplete Information∗

Stability in a two-sided matching model with non-transferrable utility and with incomplete information is investigated. Each agent has interdependent preferences which depend on his own type and on the possibly unknown types of agents on the other side of the market. In a one-sided incomplete information model in which workers’ types are private information, a firm joins a worker in a block to ...

Interdependent Utility and Truthtelling In Two-Sided Matching

Mechanisms which implement stable matchings are often observed to work well in practice, even in environments where the stable outcome is not unique, information is complete, and the number of players is small. Why might individuals refrain from strategic manipulation, even when the complexity cost of manipulation is low? I study a two-sided, one-to-one matching problem with no side transfers, ...

Two-Sided Matching with Common Values

This note introduces and studies two-sided matching with incomplete information and common values. An impossibility result shows that even with full information about one side’s values, there exists no detail-free stable incentive compatible matching mechanism.

Monotone Equilibrium in Multi-Unit Auctions

In two-sided multi-unit auctions having a variety of payment rules, including uniform-price and discriminatory auctions, a monotone pure strategy equilibrium (MPSE) exists when bidders are risk-neutral with independent multi-dimensional types and interdependent values. In fact, all mixed strategy equilibria are ex post allocationand interim expected payment-equivalent to MPSE. Thus, for standar...
